Microsoft 365 - Creating an Office Hours/Advising Sign Up Sheet

Introduction

There are multiple methods to create a sign-up sheet for your Office Hours or to help schedule Advising appointments. This tutorial details the steps to share a sign-up sheet with your students using Office 365. The powerful collaboration features in OneDrive allow all students to easily add their names to a preferred timeslot.

Go to the Microsoft 365 portal (https://office365.quinnipiac.edu) and login using your QU credentials. You will need to use the username@quinnipiac.edu format.

Note: You may initially see the Office 365 login screen. Enter your QU email address to be redirected to the QU SSO screen.
Click on the Apps button in the menu to expand the App Launcher, and select OneDrive.
You can create a sign-up sheet using whichever tool works best for you. A Word doc with a table or an Excel spreadsheet will both accomplish what you need. If you want a simple template, feel free to save a copy of this Excel based sign-up sheet to your own OneDrive library.
Locate the sign-up sheet within your OneDrive library and check the box to select it. Click Copy link from the top menu.
Ensuring that your file is still selected, click on the Share button.
A dialog box will pop up with the option to add email addresses and message content.

Click on the gear icon to see advanced sharing options. The default option is People you choose. If you want to secure your file to be accessed only by the Quinnipiac community, then select the option for People in Quinnipiac University.

Ensure the “More settings” selection is set to Can edit and then click the Apply button (you may need to scroll down for the button). You will return to the Share options window with a confirmation that the link has been successfully copied.
You can post the link to the sign-up sheet wherever you prefer in your Blackboard course or your Advising Organization. Within a content area, hover your cursor over the Build Content menu and select Web Link from the drop-down. To add the link directly to the course menu, however over the + icon at the top-left of the menu and select Web Link.
Type in a Name for the link and paste the sharing link that you previously copied into the URL field. Ensure that the radio button for Permit Users to View this Content is checked on Yes, and then click Submit.
