Microsoft Authenticator App
Introduction
Multi-factor authentication is important to secure your login. Quinnipiac is supporting the Microsoft Authenticator App to assist with authentication. This app is especially useful when traveling between countries because it does not require a functioning SIM card, just an internet connection. The Microsoft Authenticator App is available for Android and iOS devices.
Follow this how to guide for downloading, installing, and setting up the Microsoft Authenticator app.
Download the Microsoft Authenticator App on your Mobile Device
- From your mobile device store, search and install the Microsoft Authenticator App . Once the app is on your mobile device, continue the setup from your computer.
- In your computer browser, go to https://is.quinnipiac.edu/mfa.
Note: You will need to sign in with an existing MFA method to access this website. If you do not have an alternative method, submit a ticket at https://support.quinnipiac.edu/support/tickets/new for assistance.
- On the Security Info page, click Add Method to add the authenticator app.
- From the drop-down menu, choose Authenticator app.
- You will receive a message that tells you to install the Microsoft Authenticator app on your device. You should have already done this in the steps above. Once you have the app installed, click Next on the pop-up screen on your computer.
- On your mobile device, open the Microsoft Authenticator app.
- Tap "Add account," allow notifications, and then choose "Work or School account."

- Use the Microsoft Authenticator App camera to scan the QR Code that comes up on your computer screen. This will connect the Microsoft Authenticator app with your account. Once done, click Next.
- Tap Done and then an approval message will be sent to your mobile device to approve.
- A number will be displayed on your computer screen. A notification will appear on your phone. Enter the number into the approval notification window.
- Click Done on the computer.
- You can change the Microsoft Authenticator app to your default MFA method by clicking the Change button next to "Default sign-in method" on the Security Info screen.
